Meizu Zero – The World’s First Phone With a “Holeless” Design

MEIZU ZERO

Today, Meizu released a new smartphone Meizu Zero! It will be one of the unique phones that promise to change the way users use traditional smartphones.

Meizu Zero Smartphone Specification

This new design language was called Meizu Unibody 3D. The whole body will be finished completely from high-quality and seamless ceramic material. The Meizu Zero will also have no speaker holes, as it uses the all-new m-Sound 2.0 technology with the built-in speaker on the device’s screen, allowing it to play sound from the screen itself.

This technology is not entirely new, Vivo at the MWC 2018 exhibition last year also introduced a similar feature on its Vivo APEX (which later became the Vivo NEX).

Meizu vice president, Li Nan, said that the sound technology in the new screen will allow users to talk even when holding the phone backward. Talking about the screen, Meizu Zero owns a 5.99-inch OLED curved screen, with an unknown resolution.

Meizu screen is also integrated with optical fingerprint sensor technology in the screen. The overall design of the device is quite thin as well as giving the grip a fairly light feeling. Because there is no charging port, the Meizu Zero will only be able to charge via the wireless charging feature with the new Super mCharge 18W technology. Mr. Li Nan said Meizu had to develop this wireless charging technology for 2 years with 75 different patents. New charging technology will allow the device to charge wirelessly with a capacity of 18W.

And instead of using a physical SIM card, Meizu Zero will also switch to using eSIM completely. The physical hard keys on the side will also be replaced by feedback vibration motors, giving the Meizu Zero a water-resistant IP68 standard. The device will also support the new Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity standard to allow the use of headset devices to replace the 3.5mm headphone jack. Regarding the hardware configuration, the Meizu Zero runs on a Snapdragon 845 chip, with an unknown RAM capacity. The dual camera on the back uses two Sony sensors, the IMX380 12MP and IMX352 20MP (similar to the Meizu duo 16 camera cluster). Meanwhile, the selfie camera on the front will have a resolution of 20MP. The device is available on the Android 9 Pie platform with Flyme 7 UI interface.
